Understanding the Current Landscape of Compounded GLP-1 Medications

The FDA has recently updated its guidance on compounded GLP-1 medications like semaglutide and tirzepatide. Now that brand-name versions are no longer listed on the FDA’s shortage list (tirzepatide in Oct 2024, semaglutide in Feb 2025), compounded versions may only be prescribed in limited, specific situations.
Some clinics may continue offering compounded medications using stockpiled inventory or through pharmacies operating in gray areas. I choose not to take that risk with your health or my license. I only work with licensed 503A pharmacies that follow current federal and state guidelines—and I will never dispense a medication that’s not legally and ethically appropriate for your care.

No — the cost of prescription medications is not included in your monthly membership. However, if you're eligible for a GLP-1, I’ll help you navigate insurance coverage, apply for manufacturer savings programs, or explore cash-pay pharmacy options. Many patients are surprised to find these medications more accessible than they expected — some pay as little as $25/month with insurance or coupons. ​​

How much do labs cost if I pay out of pocket?
Cash pricing for a full panel typically ranges from $75–$150, depending on what’s needed. I’ll give you clear pricing and options before anything is ordered.

What if I need more advanced labs?
If you need expanded hormone panels, thyroid testing, insulin resistance panels, or vitamin panels, these are available for an additional cost.
We’ll discuss this based on your goals and symptoms during your consultation.
